Your projects and exports
Inkwell creates and renders handwriting animations on your iPad. Editable project text and settings, including imported project data, are stored locally in the app's storage. The app also attempts to retain recent finished exports and their metadata locally, subject to storage limits; this can happen without a separate Save to Files action. Selected photo/video preview backdrops are session-only references: they are not embedded in editable project backups or finished lettering exports and must be selected again after reopening. This native edition does not send your project library to a Something Clever server for rendering or provide a Something Clever cloud-sync account.
You choose files to import and where to save or share exports. iCloud Drive, other Files providers, sharing apps and device backups may store copies under their own settings and practices. Deleting a project does not delete separately retained recent exports, previously shared/saved files or backup copies. App deletion controls do not promise secure erasure of every cached or legacy copy. Exports may contain artwork, filenames and file metadata. Keep separate backups of projects and exports you want to retain; we cannot recover your local-only project library from our servers.
Purchases and Apple reports
When available, optional Pro purchases use Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment and your App Store account. Inkwell does not request card details or your Apple password. The app uses Apple-verified purchase information, including the product, subscription expiry and refund/revocation status, to determine access and restore eligible purchases. It does not send those transaction records to a Something Clever purchase-verification server.
Apple may make purchase, sales or refund reports available through developer services. We use relevant records for purchase support, accounting and related legal obligations, not advertising or profiling. Financial records are separate from ordinary support correspondence. Apple may also provide crash/diagnostic reports, test activity, usage information and tester-submitted feedback or screenshots, depending on distribution and settings. We review relevant information for troubleshooting and do not routinely bulk-export reports. Deliberately downloaded debugging copies follow the support-file schedule below. Reports kept by Apple remain subject to Apple's privacy practices.
Audience
Inkwell is intended for a general creative audience, not directed specifically at children. Please avoid sending unnecessary information about children in support requests.
Advertising and tracking
This native edition does not integrate an advertising network, third-party analytics SDK or advertising-identifier tracking feature. It does not send artwork to an AI-generation service or track you across other companies' apps/websites for targeted advertising. We will review and update the notice and App Store disclosures before introducing new data-collecting features and obtain permissions where required.
Support and retention
If you email support, we receive your email address, message and anything you attach. Send only what is necessary; do not send passwords, full payment-card details or unnecessary confidential project material. Michael Carlton Abalon handles support through Gmail. Google provides the email service under Google’s Privacy Policy. We use correspondence to answer requests, diagnose problems and handle related disputes/legal obligations, not marketing lists or sale of personal information. We do not move support material to unrelated services.
From release onward, we delete support attachments and deliberately downloaded debugging copies under our control within 30 days after an issue is resolved. For attachments received in email, this includes permanently deleting the attachment-bearing messages and their sent or forwarded copies under our control; we may keep a minimal text-only support summary instead. We keep necessary attachment-free correspondence and summaries for up to 12 months after resolution, then delete them. We also remove these selected messages from Gmail Trash rather than relying on its later automatic deletion. We periodically review unresolved requests and keep their material only while necessary.
Where a genuine dispute or legal obligation requires specified records for longer, we restrict their use and retain them only as long as required. Financial/tax records have separate applicable obligations. These periods concern copies we control, not an assurance that every provider backup is erased by the same deadline; Google describes separate retention, deletion and backup processes, including retention for service needs and legal or security reasons.
Website hosting and international processing
Our legal/support website is designed as a static Cloudflare Pages site without added forms, advertising, analytics scripts or remote fonts. Cloudflare receives ordinary web-request information, including IP addresses and request/traffic information, to deliver and protect the site; lack of added analytics does not mean the host processes no visitor data. Visiting these pages does not send your Inkwell project library to the website.
Cloudflare processes some information on our behalf and some for its own service/security purposes, as described in its privacy policy and applicable service terms. Its published retention criteria depend on the purposes of processing and legal obligations; we do not set or promise a fixed deletion period for Cloudflare's own service/security records. Our 30-day/12-month support schedule does not apply to those host records. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Google and Cloudflare may process information outside the Philippines. Cloudflare describes primarily US/EEA storage and worldwide transfers/access; Google operates servers around the world. Apple and file/share destinations have their own privacy practices. These references explain provider handling; they do not remove our responsibility for information we control.
Why we process information
Where necessary to perform the app licence or provide purchase support you request, we process the relevant information on the basis of contract. For limited, necessary service security and bug diagnosis, we rely on legitimate interests balanced against your privacy rights. We rely on legal compliance only for specified records needed to meet actual legal obligations, such as applicable accounting or tax requirements. Sending us an email is not blanket consent to unrelated processing.
Your rights and questions
No Something Clever account is required. You can manage local projects/recent exports in the app, purchases through Apple and shared files through their destinations.
For personal information we process about you, including support and Apple developer-service information, you may request access or correction, object to processing, or request erasure/blocking, subject to applicable conditions and exceptions. Where legal conditions apply, you may request a copy in a commonly used electronic format. Contact Michael Carlton Abalon at hellosomethingclever@gmail.com. You may lodge a complaint with the Philippine National Privacy Commission. We may need enough information to identify the records; do not send identity documents unless necessary and requested through an appropriate process.
